Samantha Rose Taylor races to rescue the tortured panther-like cat from the experimental laboratory and runs with him. She runs as fast and as far as she can.

Samantha, being psychic herself, knows something about the mysterious black cat that the evil scientists do not know – she can communicate with the magical panther that she names Prince Phoenix, and he can communicate with her. They form an unbreakable bond while in hiding, escape attacks from the evil scientists and murderous genetically-engineered creatures, and fall in love with a stranger who helps them in their fight for survival; a man who may or may not be a friend.
Unbeknownst to Samantha, the scientists also know a secret or two about the genetically-engineered cat. He was made with genes from some very vicious animals, and the mixed breed animal is a ticking time bomb that could turn into a killing machine at any moment.

Cats have many secrets, but Prince Phoenix has more than most for he was genetically-engineered by an evil scientist whose secret passion is creating hideous monsters for his own pleasure. Genes from what animals has the scientist used to make the cat? Feline, for sure, but Prince Phoenix can also fly, has great strength, can be ferocious and seems to have human intelligence. He can also communicate with humans, but does not do so until he meets Samantha.
The beautiful sleek black panther cat with amethyst eyes is imprisoned in a tiny cage in the basement of the hospital where Samantha Rose Taylor is being treated for psychiatric problems. Samantha’s secret telepathic ability is being exploited by doctors at the hospital and she uses every ounce of her talent to free the tortured black cat. She has always communicated with animals, but is very surprised that she can hear the black panther cat actually talking to her. When she realizes that the cat understands her thoughts and that they are truly communicating with each other she vows that no one will ever know their secret, for she knows that if anyone ever finds out they will destroy them.
Escaping the dangers in Los Angeles, Samantha takes the black panther cat and flees to Big Sur with Sam, a stranger who leaves his life to help her and the black cat. They bring with them a tiny red kitten they find abandoned and name her Scarlett Rose. Prince Phoenix and Scarlett Rose fall in love and she gives birth to two kittens, Elvis and Elvira. And one badly mutated creature. Which of Prince Phoenix’s genes caused this tragic event?
Samantha has never had a lover, yet upon arriving in Big Sur she gives birth to a beautiful baby girl who looks just like her, and a handsome black kitten who looks just like Prince Phoenix. Only the evil scientist knows what or whose genes were used to create Samantha’s offspring. It is a secret to which they may never know the answer.
