Read Your Cat’s Mind

Watch your cat closely. He will tell you what is on his mind.

Start by forming a close bond with your cat by spending at least 30 minutes a day of quality time with him—playing, grooming, petting, or just listening.

Your cat will tell you what he likes. Does he like playing? Does he like a good brushing? Does he like to be held? Is he hungry? Does he need water? He will let you know—does he pull away from you, or does he purr loudly? Does he start to growl or run and hide? Does he run to his food or water bowl?

If he talks to you, talk back to him and let him know you are interested in what he wants. The more you answer him, the more he will talk to you. Does he rub against your leg indicating he wants contact, or wants you to follow him?

Be especially aware of any change in his habits or behavior—he might not feel well and may need professional attention.
